Technical Specifications
The Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver features a 120 Watts per channel amplifier and good streaming capability. Dynamic range has been improved by using a well-designed chassis. However, the main feature is Yamaha’s YPAO room correction system.
There is also a high-quality PSU using a toroidal transformer. The DAC features an ESS pro chipset and only the best audio grade components are used. The heavily shielded casing includes two gorgeous power meters. Lastly, connectivity is good with a phono preamp and A DAB/FM tuner included.
Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO)
Yamaha has developed the Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer System. This is used in the Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver. The technology makes the soundstage very realistic. Every instrument is accurately placed and the performers seem to be in the room.
Room furnishings can cause reflections as well as absorb sounds. This can change the frequency range of audio causing dips and peaks. As a result, the YPAO system uses a microphone to measure the room’s response. It then automatically adjusts the equalization to compensate.
Total purity of reproduction
The Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver uses Yamahas ToP-ART Total Purity Audio Reproduction technology. This system improves the dynamics of the music. For example, the difference between the quietest and loudest music passage is known as the dynamics.
Having a low-noise system with large PSU capacitors boosts the dynamic range. Moreover, short signal paths and a low-vibration chassis also improve the dynamics.
Mechanical Ground for low-vibration
The Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver features a mechanical ground system. This creates a very solid vibration-free chassis. The welded feet bolt directly to the main chassis as do the heat sink, power transformer, and reservoir capacitors. As a result, vibration is reduced and the low-frequency response is more accurate. The feet are made of solid brass.
Amplifier isolated ground
The amplifier circuit and power supply in the Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver are completely isolated from external ground. As a result minute voltage variations are prevented. Moreover, external ground noise is eliminated. The result is a smooth and clean sound with an excellent signal-to-noise ratio.
Another feature is the chassis construction. Good channel separation is achieved by having a centrally placed power supply. Both amplifier blocks are then placed on either side. This gives a good weight balance and provides a pure sound.
A state of the art ESS DAC
The Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver features a state-of-the-art ES9026PRO DAC chip. The DAC converts the ones and zeros from the digital audio stream back into music. The quality of the DAC is important in obtaining the best playback quality and ESS makes the best chips.
Furthermore, today’s high-resolution audio needs a high-performing DAC. Lastly, this unit has a maximum sampling rate of 384kHz and a 32-bit resolution.
Fully featured streaming
Most streaming services are available on the Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver. This includes Amazon Music HD and Spotify. You can also connect Apple devices via Airplay 2. Next, the unit can decode lossless services and has Musiccast built in. This can send audio to compatible devices.
Excellent connectivity
The Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver has a full set of inputs. Analogue connectors include a phono preamp and three line-level inputs. There are also three digital inputs and a USB input. Network connections include Bluetooth, WI-Fi, and wired Ethernet.
HDMI ARC is provided to connect the sound from a TV. This allows the TV remote to control the volume of the unit. Lastly, there is a headphone output and a subwoofer output. Front controls include bass and treble as well as a pure direct switch.
