The answer was clear-cut; engineers added a custom-designed, high-quality, moving magnet phono stage based on the multi-award-winning What Hi-Fi? 5 Star Fono Mini.
Every single aspect of the Planar 1 PLUS has been meticulously designed to improve performance. The Planar 1 PLUS utilizes a bespoke 24 V, low-noise, synchronous motor to reduce vibration, coupled with the hand-made RB110 tonearm fitted with Rega’s unique ultra-low friction bearings. The latest drive belt technology, the EBLT belt, has been integrated for greater accuracy and improved speed performance. Built-in Phono Stage
The built-in phono stage represents a high specification pre-amplifier. Its purpose is to amplify the signal from a moving magnet cartridge to an appropriate level for all line-level inputs of a compatible system or audio amplifier. This facilitates easy connection to a range of products using either the supplied standard twin phono to phono lead or a phono to 3.5 mm plug (not included).
Tonearm
RB110 tonearm, built with Rega’s designed, bespoke, ultra-low friction bearings (Patent Pending). Pre-set bias assembly negates the need for the user to set bias, making this the most ‘Plug & Play’ turntable Rega has ever manufactured. Ergonomically redesigned and stiffer headshell for improved usability and appearance.
Cartridge
Rega Carbon moving magnet cartridge is supplied fitted as standard.
24 V Synchronous Motor
24 V, synchronous AC motor with a new motor PCB and aluminum pulley, providing low noise and improved speed stability.
Drive Belt
Advanced EBLT drive belt is supplied as standard for enhanced speed performance and accuracy.
Plinth
Three finish options are available: black, white, or walnut-effect matt finish plinth, all featuring vastly improved appearance and an ergonomically positioned on/off switch located on the underside.
Central Bearing Housing
Precision brass main bearing, providing an improved fit and reducing stress on the bearing itself while minimizing the transfer of potential energy (Patent Pending).
Platter
23 mm, high-mass phenolic platter with an improved flywheel effect for enhanced speed stability.
Isolation
Rega’s latest custom foot design is employed to increase stability and reduce vibration transfer.
