The Planar 2 was developed over two years alongside the latest Planar 3. It features the RB220 tonearm, a new 24 V, low-noise motor, an acrylic high-gloss laminated plinth, a newly designed central bearing, and various other enhancements. Every aspect of this innovative new turntable is aimed at extracting the maximum amount of information and detail from your vinyl collection.
NEW: The Walnut effect Planar 2 comes with the smoked dust cover as standard (other finishes include the clear dust cover).

The RB220 tonearm features groundbreaking new features aimed at enhancing performance and simplifying setup. It incorporates Rega-designed ultra-low friction bearings (Patent Pending) housed within a brand new, stiffer, and lightweight bearing housing. This housing was developed with updated adjustable bias (as of Autumn 2020), providing greater flexibility and compatibility with a wide range of cartridges. The new housing also includes an integrated arm clip and utilizes Rega’s latest custom aluminum arm tube.
Central Bearing Housing
An 11 mm self-securing brass bearing (Patent Pending) is employed, providing an improved fit and reducing stress on the bearing, thus preventing the transfer of potential energy.
Acrylic Gloss Skin Plinth Plinth / Walnut Effect Laminate
High-gloss acrylic or walnut-effect laminated plinth, enhanced for greater stiffness and improved appearance, featuring an ergonomically positioned power switch.
24 V Synchronous Motor
New 24 V low noise, low vibration motor assembly and new PCB.
Platter
The platter now utilises new float glass ‘Optiwhite’ measuring 10 mm, providing improved accuracy.
Isolation
The feet have been re-designed to feature a new improved foot assembly, aimed at increasing stability and reducing vibration transfer.
Cartridge
Rega Carbon cartridge is supplied as standard on all Planar 2s, ensuring simple plug-and-play convenience.
Dust Cover
Supplied as standard, there are optional lid and plinth protectors included to prevent marks on the plinth and maintain its appearance. The walnut effect finish comes with the smoked dust cover as standard.
