The MK2 Model 20, a finely engineered precision turntable by SME, showcases high-density construction, extensional damping of major surfaces, and a design that minimizes vibration from moving parts. This combination ensures exceptional detail, resolution, and uncolored performance. The Model 20 is equipped with a new, highly advanced drive system that significantly improves speed control, accuracy, and stability, making this new generation far superior to the original highly acclaimed model.

The Model 20 employs superb instrument-quality machining coupled with fundamental physics. The higher the mass and stiffness of the body, the less it will flex and vibrate. The duration of a vibration is shortened by advanced damping treatment. The Model 20 addresses extraneous vibrations emanating from various sources such as air and structural vibration from loudspeakers, groove modulation, stray electrical fields, and mechanical energy from moving parts.

With a weight of 26kg, the Model 20’s mass is significant relative to its size, as density plays a crucial role. The main and sub-chassis plate thicknesses are 16mm, resisting flexing at low frequencies, while high-frequency resonance is attenuated through efficient extensional damping.

The definitive performance Model 20 is available with or without a tonearm. The tonearm option available is the flagship SME Series V, featuring contrasting Silver Printed Detail and Crystal Cable internal wiring.
