SCM19A
Each of the ATC SCM19A is powered by ATC’s latest wide bandwidth, low noise MOSFET Class AB bi-amplifiers delivering a total of 182W (32W to the tweeter, 150W to the mid/bass unit). ATC’s Grounded Source output stage modules are fed by a newly developed two-way active crossover section with second-order modified Butterworth circuitry with phase compensation for each crossover point. The 25mm SH25-76 soft dome tweeter employs a dual suspension system, designed to suppress rocking modes even when driven exceptionally hard. Having a short edge-wound voice coil in a long, narrow magnetic gap claims exceptionally low distortion values.
The ATC SCM19 active speakers deliver a dynamic super clear presentation with a wide open soundstage which is equally at home playing high octane rock (where it will make most similarly sized passive floorstanders sound somewhat flat and loose) but it also does the delicate stuff with great care and finesse as well. Some will prefer the extended low frequency delivered from the 3-way SCM40A but for this budget, these are a properly implemented active design loudspeaker which we have yet to hear better.
The ATC SCM19A is an extension of the entry series. It’s one of two active models within the range, made to deliver extremely high performance and instrumenting the specification and features of the professional products ATC is known for, the range was made for the audiophile. This particular model is a two-way alternative to one of ATC’s most loved models – the SCM40A.
Similar to other ATC loudspeakers the ATC SCM19A features an incredible phase correction and magnitude response. The enhanced distortion performance paired with a vast dynamic range results in much higher performance and resolution.
