The Naim Streaming Platform
At the heart of Mu-so 2nd Generation is Naim’s music-streaming platform, developed by 25 engineers over 3 years to deliver the very best performance. Naim’s platform excels in playing your digital music collection, a world of Internet radio, or music streaming services like TIDAL and Spotify. This acclaimed innovation is uniquely present in Naim’s music-streaming products, including the Uniti range and dedicated network players, such as the £20,000 flagship ND 555.
DSP – The heart of the System
The all-new multicore Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in Mu-so 2nd Generation drives higher performance, delivering 2000 MIPS (Million Instructions Per Second) compared to the original Mu-so’s single-core, 150MIPS DSP. This enhancement allows you to hear even more from your music.
Naim has also created a brand new limiter algorithm for Mu-so 2nd Generation. This algorithm keeps each of the speaker drivers’ movements under control at high volume levels. The new limiter, by design, is only active at extreme volume levels and helps to retain the music’s clarity and increases long-term reliability.
Optimised Speaker Drivers
Mu-so 2nd Generation boasts 450 Watts of music power, complemented by improved and highly optimized speaker drivers. This is the result of a joint development project between Naim and Focal’s R&D departments.
Since 1979, Focal has been crafting benchmark acoustic equipment. Their expertise has elevated speaker-driver precision and performance to unprecedented levels.
95% Re-engineered
Mu-so 2nd Generation features premium aluminium casing in a new burnished grey finish.
While it may look similar on the outside, inside, the majority of components in Mu-so 2nd Generation have been upgraded to enhance performance.
The cabinet design has been re-engineered to create 13% more internal volume, allowing for bigger, better bass. The cabinet bracing and baffle moulding have undergone redesigns to improve rigidity, effectively suppressing and controlling vibrations.
The distinctive heat-sink fins of Mu-so 2nd Generation are now more compact, yet remain ultra-effective. They continue to feature Naim’s patented technology, discreetly incorporating the wi-fi antenna.
Upgraded App Control
The updated Naim app allows you to browse by artist, genre, album, and more, complete with artwork and extended music information. Control volume, light settings, room modes and create playlists.
Multiroom Music Made Easy With Smart Integration
Mu-so 2nd Generation works brilliantly on its own or as part of a multiroom music set-up. You have three easy ways to make it multiroom:
- Combine Mu-so 2nd Generation with other networked Naim products (including 1st Generation Mu-so and Mu-so Qb) via the updated Naim app.
- Pair Mu-so 2nd Generation with other AirPlay 2-compatible wireless speakers via the Apple Home app.
- Pair Mu-so 2nd Generation with other Chromecast devices through groups controlled by the Google Home app.
